Welsh Union reportedly in advanced talks over two Welsh teams joining the Prem

The Welsh Rugby Union is reportedly in advanced talks with Prem Rugby and the RFU about turning the Premiership into a cross-border competition with two Welsh teams, a Guardian report said on 28 October. A Prem and RFU statement did not name any Welsh side. Any Welsh entry would need RFU approval. The WRU reported a £18.1m loss for 2025-26.
