Maine Democrat Refuses to Quit Senate Race After Sexual Assault Allegation

Graham Platner won Maine's Democratic Senate primary in June but has not withdrawn despite a sexual assault allegation from his ex-girlfriend. The Washington Post reported July 8 that party leaders and Sen. Bernie Sanders called for him to step aside. Platner is resisting efforts to replace him as the nominee against Republican Susan Collins.
