UK plans to make 55p-a-mile tax-free work driving rate permanent

The government announced it will make permanent the 55p per mile tax-free rate for the first 10,000 business miles, and raise the rate above 10,000 miles from 25p. The Treasury estimates three million people will benefit, saving up to £300 a year for someone driving 15,000 business miles. The change is part of the budget due 28 October.
