SpaceX's Grok 4.5 undercuts Anthropic on price—and targets a different use case

SpaceX released Grok 4.5 on July 8 at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens—roughly a quarter of Anthropic's Opus 4.7 pricing. The steep discount on output tokens targets agentic workloads that generate long reasoning chains. SpaceX claims twice the token efficiency of competitors.
