Ava DuVernay Defends Generative AI Animation of Archival Photos in Netflix's '14th'

Ava DuVernay has defended her use of generative AI in Netflix's documentary '14th', telling The Hollywood Reporter at an AFI Fest screening that the tools animated public-domain archival photographs without fabricating anyone. She said no avatars were created and no voices cloned.
