Meta announced in July 2026 that its AI glasses will kill the camera if the LED privacy indicator is modified or destroyed. The safeguard targets users who circumvented the light with tape or attempted more sophisticated modifications. Meta claims no other camera device has implemented tamper detection on its recording indicator.
