Meta Disables Camera if LED Recording Indicator Is Tampered With

Meta announced in July 2026 that its AI glasses will stop recording if the LED privacy indicator is modified or destroyed. The safeguard responds to users who circumvented the light with tape and, later, "sophisticated efforts to modify or destroy" the LED itself. Meta claims no other camera has implemented tamper detection on a recording indicator.
