Basao's Shanghai tea shop takes its ceiling and walls from Rockbund and Fujian

Tea brand Basao's new flagship in Rockbund, a historic district of central Shanghai, has a vaulted steel ceiling echoing the arches of nearby buildings, Dezeen reported on 23 October 2026. Architect Keiji Ashizawa designed the 108-square-metre shop. Its retail-area walls are earthen, referencing rammed-earth building in Fujian Province, where the brand began in Xiamen.
