Defence Force uses armed drones without operational rules

New Zealand troops tested weaponised ground drones during Exercise Black Prince 3 near Adelaide, detonating two units. An Official Information Act request shows the Defence Force lacks formal directives on how and when these systems can be used. Units train with drones and spend roughly $1 million annually on equipment, but operate without clear policy. A concept document is due in December.
