Essex sign George Bell from Lancashire on permanent two-year deal

Essex have signed wicketkeeper-batter (the player behind the stumps) George Bell, 24, from Lancashire on a permanent two-year contract, converting the loan he began in September. Essex Cricket confirmed the move in an announcement dated 21 October. Bell has scored more than 1,400 first-class runs from 37 matches. Director of cricket Chris Silverwood said Bell had more than earned a permanent deal.
