Social Security fixed almost 15% of its number records

Nearly 15% of Social Security Number records — tens of millions of files out of almost 390 million — were corrected, the Social Security Administration said Oct. 20, 2026. That matters for savers: monthly benefit payments and identity checks both depend on those files being correct.
