BBC to Close BBC Three, BBC Scotland and Radio 4 Extra in Spring

The BBC plans to close its BBC Three and BBC Scotland TV channels and Radio 4 Extra radio station in the spring, reported Oct. 20, 2026. The closures are part of a £500m savings drive, of which only about £200m had been cut. BBC Three reaches about 4% of Britons weekly; Radio 4 Extra reaches 1.4 million.
