MP warns bereaved families face 'unjust' tax over pension delays
Public Accounts Committee chair Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown has written to minister Louise Haigh urging a guarantee bereaved families hit by civil service pension delays won't face an 'unjust' tax bill. He called it 'unconscionable'. HMRC rules say certain lump sums must be paid within two years to stay tax-free. The Cabinet Office said compensation is available via the Pensions Ombudsman.
