New blood and saliva tests offer faster endometriosis diagnosis in the UK

NICE approved two second-line diagnostic tools for NHS use on July 7, 2026: EndoSure, which measures gut electrical signals in 45 minutes, and Endotest, which detects microRNA markers in saliva with 95% sensitivity. Both target women whose imaging results are inconclusive. A three-year trial will determine permanent approval. The move addresses endometriosis's nine-year diagnostic delay—a costly gap that leaves patients in pain while searching for answers.
