Kartal becomes British No.1 with Wuhan final run

Sonay Kartal is the new British No.1 after reaching the Wuhan Open final. She lost to No.22 Maja Chwalinska after leading by a set and a break. It was her biggest final, in her third tournament back from injury, and the first WTA 1000 final - one rung below a Slam - by a Briton since Johanna Konta in 2019.
