Former Guatemalan prosecutor shot dead in Guatemala City

Former Guatemalan prosecutor and ex-tax chief Juan Francisco Solorzano Foppa, 43, was shot dead Oct. 17 at Campo Marte sports complex in Guatemala City. The Public Prosecutor's Office said Gustavo Adolfo Aguilar Gamarro also died. Foppa led tax authority SAT from 2016 to 2018, where he prosecuted business figures and recovered unpaid taxes.
