OpenCode discloses distillation-attack breach affecting 1.4% of Console users

OpenCode, an open-source AI coding agent, said Oct. 17, 2026 that attackers breached its systems in a large-scale distillation attack, a technique that copies AI behavior by harvesting model outputs, affecting 1.4% of Console users. It emailed those affected that morning. The incident is ongoing, and OpenCode is working on fixes with Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.
