Meta Removes Website-Scraping Language for AI Training
Meta has removed language from its Commercial Terms that said it could use content from websites to train and maintain its products. The wording is gone from the terms page. The change takes effect October 30, 2026. Spokesperson Daniel Roberts said it does not change how its web crawler (automated data collector) acts or override robots.txt (site opt-out signals).
