New Zealand museum posts 47 high-resolution 1938 aerial photos of Nikumaroro linked to Earhart search

The Air Force Museum of New Zealand has put online 47 high-resolution photos of Nikumaroro, taken 1 Dec 1938 from a biplane surveying airbase sites. The island, then Gardner Island in what is now Kiribati, is tied to theory Amelia Earhart and Fred Noonan, missing since 2 July 1937, landed there after running out of fuel.
