More than 11,400 drivers disputed fines as cloned plates hit record high
More than 11,400 drivers contacted the driver agency DVLA last year over fines for offences they said they did not commit, as reports of cloned vehicles reached a record high. Most cases are believed to involve cloning, where plates are copied onto similar cars to dodge cameras. The RAC says complaints rose 9% from 2024 and nearly doubled since 2018.
