Hilton proposes 40% California production credit, 50% for five years

Republican contender Steve Hilton proposed a 40% California production tax credit, rising to 50% for five years, Variety reported 14 October 2026. His "Bring Hollywood Home" plan tops the current capped 35% rate for selected film and TV. Hilton and Democrat Xavier Becerra cite a loss of 52,000 production jobs over four years.
