911 Tapes Show 30-Minute Aid Delay After Failed Tennessee Execution
Nashville officials released 911 tapes showing aid to Christa Pike was delayed about 30 minutes after Tennessee's failed Sept. 30 lethal injection — an execution by drugs. A 20:40 call from Riverbend Prison was treated as possibly false because the caller lacked a verification code, a security password. Responders entered only after officials confirmed at 21:11 it was genuine.
