Qatar Urges Stronger Protection for Gulf Shipping and Energy Sites

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani urged redoubled protection for Gulf and Strait of Hormuz shipping lanes, plus energy sites and civilian infrastructure, in an October 13, 2026 address to the Shura Council, Qatar’s advisory legislature, in Doha. The appeal follows Iran’s March strike on Qatar’s Ras Laffan gas plant during the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.
