ABC alleges FCC used early licence renewals to evade judicial review

ABC alleged in a filing reported by Variety on 12 Oct 2026 that the FCC ordered early renewal of licences for its eight owned-and-operated stations — stations it owns outright — to evade judicial review. ABC filed its First Amendment suit on 18 Aug, Variety reported. The FCC says the order stems from a DEI employment inquiry.
