South Africa's 25% film rebate working again after two-year freeze

South Africa’s 25% cash rebate, a return on qualifying local spend run by the DTIC, is working again after more than two years when it had effectively ceased to function, Variety reported on 12 October 2026. DTIC film and television production director Nelly Molokoane told Durban FilmMart “The department is back in business.” Variety reported.
