GM Tests Battery Cells at Warren Pilot Line to Cut EV Costs
General Motors is prototyping battery cells at its low-volume Battery Cell Development Center in Warren, Michigan, to cut EV costs. The 500,000-square-foot pilot line, toured in early September, includes slurry-mixing and electrode-coating gear — the early steps in cell making — to move proven designs to mass production. Packs are 30 to 40 percent of EV cost.
