GM Prototypes Battery Cells in Warren to Cut EV Costs
General Motors is prototyping battery cells at its low-volume Battery Cell Development Center in Warren, Michigan, to slash EV costs. The half-million-square-foot pilot line, toured in early September, houses slurry-mixing and electrode-coating equipment for transferring proven designs to high-volume production. Battery packs account for 30 to 40 percent of EV cost.
