Parliament Speeds Up Employment Leave Bill Under Extended Urgency

Parliament is using extended urgency this week to fast-track the Employment Leave Bill, which would replace the Holidays Act 2003. The act has created long-running problems for employers and payroll administrators since 1993. The omnibus bill also updates related employment law. Urgency suspends normal sitting hours, letting the government pass bills through multiple readings in one sitting.
