Parliament to Fast-Track Employment Leave Bill Under Extended Urgency
Parliament is moving into extended urgency this week to accelerate the Employment Leave Bill, which would repeal and replace the Holidays Act 2003. The act has created persistent difficulties for employers and payroll administrators since 1993. The omnibus bill also updates related employment legislation. Urgency suspends normal sitting hours and lets the government push bills through multiple readings in a single sitting, compressing scrutiny time.
