National takes another crack at Te Tai Hauāuru Māori seat

National has selected Rangitīkei councillor Coral Raukawa to challenge Te Pāti Māori MP Debbie Ngarewa-Packer in Te Tai Hauāuru, a Māori electorate National hasn't won since MMP began in 1996. Raukawa, born in Marton, has iwi connections to Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Apa and Ngāti Tamakopiri. National now contests all seven Māori seats, though its support in them has been historically weak.
