Matthew Lillard told Variety his career 'took a nosedive for a long time' after 2004's Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. He told Variety he and his wife sold their cars and house, downsized, and his wife returned to work. He told Variety his biggest payday, for the sequel, helped them survive financially.
