
Bidding wars over as producers shift to shared rights deals
Producers and executives told Variety bidding wars for exclusive global TV rights are mostly over and cost-plus, where a platform pays 100% plus a premium, is retreating. They use deficit financing, covering part of costs to keep rights, and shared windows, selling first run in one or two territories. Organisers list MIPCOM Cannes for 12-15 October.
