King Haakon VIII will resume official duties on 9 October, the Norwegian Royal Household announced on 7 October, as court mourning — the formal pause in public work after a death — for his father King Harald V ends. Harald died on 28 August aged 89. Haakon succeeded automatically and has sworn the constitutional oath before Norway's parliament.
