Songwriter groups have proposed a $0.0030 mechanical royalty, the reproduction fee for songwriters and publishers, per US interactive stream in 2028. Backers including the Songwriters Guild of America filed the plan with the Copyright Royalty Board by its 5 October deadline for Phonorecords V, which will set 2028-2032 rates, with inflation adjustments after 2028.
