Ukraine Reports 521 Locomotives Hit, Most in 2026

Ukraine's state railway, Ukrzaliznytsia, says Russia has damaged 521 locomotives, engines that pull trains, since the 2022 invasion, with nearly 60% hit in 2026. Railway attacks rose to 1,700 in 2026 from 1,206 in 2025. In September 2026, drone threats forced evacuation of 5,831 trains. Moscow says it targets military transport, not civilians.
