Fiction deals in the United States rose 13.6% in the third quarter to near parity with nonfiction deals, according to Publishers Marketplace. Deals, meaning announced acquisitions of publishing rights, are counted in its third-quarter deals report. Near parity means the two categories ran neck and neck.
