Zoe Kazan had no backup for Cathy Ames beyond Florence Pugh

Zoe Kazan told The Hollywood Reporter she had no backup for Cathy Ames in Netflix's East of Eden. Florence Pugh was her only choice for the role, she said. Kazan called Pugh 'the exact right person to play Cathy'. The seven-episode limited series — a story with a set ending — adapts John Steinbeck's novel, according to Netflix.
