YouTube is rolling out adjustable playback speeds for Shorts, matching long-form player controls. Viewers can now slow tutorials or accelerate repetitive segments without switching formats. The 25 June 2026 update eliminates a functional gap that previously pushed users toward competitors like TikTok, which already offered native speed control.
