Novo Nordisk bets up to $2.6bn on weekly weight-loss pill

Novo Nordisk will pay up to $2.6 billion to license an experimental once-weekly obesity pill from China's Jiangsu Hengrui, reported 29 September 2026. Reuters reports $300 million is upfront. The pill is a GLP-1/GIP drug, meaning it copies gut hormones that reduce hunger. For investors, most of the money depends on future trials and approval.
