Essendon appoints John Longmire as general manager of performance

Essendon has appointed former Sydney senior coach John Longmire as general manager of performance, the club confirmed on 28 September 2026. Longmire ends 25 years with the Swans. The newly created role covers strategy, development and the coaching group. He will start ahead of the trade period, the window for swapping players and picks.
