Switzerland Rejects Strict Neutrality Rule, Keeps Flexible Path

Swiss voters rejected a plan to put strict neutrality in the constitution on 27 September 2026, with over 70% voting no. It would have blocked sanctions, or economic penalties, unless approved by the UN and limited closer work with NATO. Switzerland keeps its flexible approach, but debates over sanctions and partnerships will likely come back in new forms.
