Godzilla Minus Zero is first R-rated Godzilla film in 72 years

Godzilla Minus Zero is the first film in the 72-year Godzilla franchise to receive an R rating, for violent content and bloody images, according to Variety. Director Takashi Yamazaki told the world premiere audience the rating was essential and censoring or cutting certain scenes was not an option, according to Variety.
