Dystel, Goderich & Bourret resigns from AALA over new ethics code

Dystel, Goderich & Bourret left the Association of American Literary Agents, the United States body for literary agents, the go-betweens who sell manuscripts to publishers. The split, reported 25 September 2026, centres on paid editorial work. The agency called permission in the new Canon, the membership rulebook, to charge non-clients who may later be signed a conflict of interest.
