Colombia suspends national arts prizes for first time in 27 years

Colombia's culture ministry suspended judging for its national prizes and recognitions, the grants programme's cash awards, for the first time in 27 years. Its 19 September 2026 statement cited lack of US$270,000 for juries and US$2.75 million for awards. The pause left 1,308 applications unjudged one day before winners were due.
