OpenAI and Anthropic chiefs warn UN Security Council of AI risks

Sam Altman of OpenAI and Dario Amodei of Anthropic addressed the UN Security Council on September 23, 2026, during the 81st UN General Assembly. They warned AI poses risks to humanity and urged governments to cooperate on safety. I see the venue as the message: they want AI treated as a global safety issue.
