Jess Phillips appointed Home Office minister for safeguarding

Jess Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley since 2015, has become Home Office minister responsible for safeguarding. The appointment uses her earlier career in domestic violence and women's rights casework. It comes after Labour's 2024 election victory gave the party a much larger parliamentary majority, enabling it to fill more government positions.
