Jess Phillips moves from domestic violence casework to Home Office safeguarding role
Jess Phillips, Labour MP for Birmingham Yardley since 2015, has been appointed Home Office minister responsible for safeguarding. The role draws directly on her pre-ministerial career in domestic violence and women's rights casework. Phillips' appointment follows Labour's 2024 election victory and represents one of the party's newly enlarged parliamentary majority taking government positions.
