Trump calls Chagos handover 'terrible' at first meeting with Burnham

Mr Trump called Britain’s plan to hand the Chagos Islands to Mauritius “terrible” at his first face-to-face meeting with Mr Burnham in New York on Tuesday. He said the joint base on Diego Garcia is “strategically very important”, including for US operations over Iran. Mr Burnham would “be looking at” the deal, he said.
