Two Firefighting Pilots Killed in Yosemite Dome Fire Crash

Two Precision pilots died Sept. 20 when their helicopter crashed during water drops on the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park. Officials said it went down around 3 p.m. southeast of Ostrander Lake. The pilots, whose names were withheld, were supporting a helitack rappel crew — firefighters lowered by rope. Federal air investigators, the FAA and NTSB, will investigate.
