National aims for mid-40s polling to govern with fewer coalition partners

National Party president Sylvia Wood wants the party polling in the mid-40s before 2026. Under MMP — the proportional voting system — that would let National form a government with less reliance on coalition partners. The party's progress towards this target will be quietly watched at this weekend's 90th Annual Conference in Lower Hutt.
